They have the best throws and can get the disk up the field. However, during the game any player holding the disk is acting as a handler. - any throw that is released at a high point in order to get the disk over the mark - a deep throw. - the area of the field where the player with the disk is likely going to throw to - when the defense smacks the disk down or away to force a turnover - the defender guarding the player with the disk - short for 'Offense' - a common catching style where one hand is above the disk and one hand is below it; generally very safe - a defensive strategy where a player stops playing man-defense in order to block the lane or bait a throw - when the defense throws the disk to the offense in order to start the point - when two players jump to catch a disk high in the air and one player comes down with the disk by out-jumping the other; being sky'd is the Ultimate equivalent of being dunked on in basketball - an offensive formation, usually where the players are organized in vertical or horizontal lines - when a disk gets severely bent - when the disk is thrown into the ground on accident as a result of a poor throw - when it's next-point-wins - when a handler runs up the field in order to receive a pass from the player with the disk |

meaning- the mark has let off a throw to the break side; the disk is probably on the other side of the field now
- the next time you're on defense and have an opportunity to hit the disk down and force a turnover, go ahead and catch it to avoid the risk of the other team catching your poorly macked d - your teammates are telling you to slow down and compose yourself and make the smart play - your vertical or horizontal stack isn't being effective because people are out of position so fix it - you are in the lane but not open, so get out of there as fast as you can - you are in the cup in a zone defense and you should get closer to the handler you're guarding because another player is coming in to try to get a quick dish - the stack is too far away from the handlers so you should come in closer - one of your handlers has moved into the stack and you need to drop back and take his place - if you are the mark, force the player with the disk that way; if you are any other defensive player, get on the force side of your man - the player with the disk that you are marking is no longer looking upfield; he wants to throw back - throw it to that person because he is not tightly marked and wide open for a pass - the player you are defending isn't likely going to make a deep cut, so be ready for his in-cut - someone on your defense line has decided you should all play man defense so switch from zone - you are marking the player with the disk and you should not allow him to make a dump throw - you are marking the player with the disk and you should not allow him to make an upline throw - someone has prevented a defender from following his man so play stops briefly - the disk is high in the air and you should do your best to estimate where it will land and get there - a handler is making an upline cut to try to get the disk - don't let that happen; if you are the mark, stand directly in front of the player with the disk; if you are not the mark, don't get beat upline - the handler with the disk that you're guarding is near the sideline so you should force him towards that sideline so the disk stays there - the thrower's foot moved during the throw; play stops briefly and the disk comes back - short for 'turnover'; if you started on O, find a man to guard and switch to defense - a handler has thrown the disk and it is up in the air; this is helpful for defenders who can't see - the person you are guarding is about to make a cut to get the disk - someone on your defensive line wants you to switch from man defense to zone |
